Dwight Eisenhower was a president with enduring fame like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. He alone changed the 20th Century like no other president has. He also led a war crusade through Europe to help win World War II. Dwight was born on 1890 in Deison, Texas. When Dwight graduated from high school he got a scholarship to West Point. Dwight was one of the smartest cadets at West Point. He also played football there. Dwight followed his father's footsteps and had a military career. When Dwight graduated from West Point and started his military career he was posted almost everywhere. When Dwight was at one of his posts, he met a woman named Mamie. Mamie and Dwight soon got married. When World War II was declared, Dwight was posted to the Philippines to keep the Japanese out. But the Japanese refused, so Dwight was posted back to the U.S. Dwight lead a war crusade in Europe to help win World War II. Dwight was elected President from 1953-1961. Dwight was president during the Cold War. The Cold War was a political rivalry between the U.S.S.R. and the U.S. The U.S.S.R. believed in communism and the U.S. believed in democracy. Dwight Eisenhower died in Washington, D.C. in 1969.
